It all began in 1962. Vivekanand Education Society (VES) – a premier education institution came into being. Conceptualized and instituted by a great humanitarian and visionary Late Shri. Hashu Advani, VES was one of the first educational institutions in Mumbai that made education accessible to students from all strata of society.

The journey that began with just 256 students is today expanded to include 20,000 students who enroll in various courses across 22 educational institutions run by VES. The year 1994 was a milestone year in the history of VES. A new-age business school-Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Management Studies and Research (VESIM) was instituted on 31st march 1994. Currently the student intake is 180 students in MMS from 120 (proposed additional 60 seats) in PGDM. This allows the institute to help more deserving students, who are aiming for glorious corporate careers.

Since the inception, VESIM has been at the forefront of business studies, developing business leaders who strive to make a positive impact on: companies they work with, people they meet, and the society they serve.

VESIM’s success as one of the leading business schools in Mumbai is due to its humanistic approach to management education. The approach is complemented by a state-of-the-art infrastructure, world-class faculty, and transformative pedagogic practices, an interactive and experiential teaching methodology, and a growing distinguished alumni network of professionals who are equipped to lead their business or organisations into the future.

  • Intellectual Resource: VESIM takes pride in its resource pool of talented academicians as core faculty, and distinguished corporate managers serving as visiting and adjunct faculty. They share their experiences, and knowledge on management practices, business challenges, changing business trends, practical case studies, and global business landscape.
  • Progressive Pedagogy: The Institute emphasizes on growth oriented curriculum and “Outcome Based Learning”. The Institute delivers MMS and PGDM courses. The PGDM is AICTE approved, and its curriculum is reviewed and tailored by the Board of Studies (BOS) to match the requirements of the changing business landscape. The MMS is approved by the University of Mumbai, and has a prescribed syllabus.
  • Experiential Learning: We, at VESIM, believe in a concept of “Education for holistic development”. This means students must be given opportunities to make an impact beyond the four walls of a classroom. Experiential learning is delivered through summer internships, live projects, role plays, etc. These experiences help students to gain insights into utilizing key management concepts to solve critical business problems. 
  • Industry Interface: Our priority is making students understand that key management theories are applicable in real life too. We create various opportunities for students to meet industry leaders. These interactions are spread across case discussions, internships, live programs, etc. Also, students are encouraged to organize various summits, cultural events, panel discussions, etc. All these events attract industry experts, corporate practitioners, thought leaders, and thinkers from all over India and the These activities help students understand the latest business and managerial trends, as well as build a rapport with organisations that may enroll them in future.
  • International Immersion: International exposure and global experience have become important aspects of management education. Understanding the rising importance of globalized education system, VESIM has signed 8 MOU’s with International universities, (Zagreb School of Economics and Management, Croatia; Oklahoma State University, USA; EUDE B-School, Technical University of Cartagena and Sergio Arboleda University, Spain; Synergy University, Moscow; University of Highlands & Islands, UK; Delaware State University, USA) for both outbound and inbound student and faculty exchange programmes. 
  • Social Immersion: VESIM’s community immersion program “YUVA for SEVA” is designed to help students gain an understanding of the challenges faced by those in the lowest pedestal of the social ladder. Also, the students are encouraged to organize and participate in various social activities such as blood donation camps, awareness building programs for eye, skin, and marrow donations, etc. The first year students are encouraged to try their hand on sales by selling different products prepared by underprivileged children. All these events help sensitize the budding corporate professionals towards their social responsibilities.
  • Impeccable Placement Record: Every year, our students get placed in top corporate houses & MNCs in India. At VESIM, the placement is 100% a student-driven activity, and organized under the guidance of the Placement Cell.
